Peter Lynch with John Rothchild
A wonderful, amusing, and straightforward book for the lay investor. Lynch, one of America's most successful investors, describes how he makes investment decisions. His advice: buy quality companies you can understand and believe in - but only if they are selling for sensible prices. Written in 1989, this book was followed by Lynch's 1994 sequel Beating the Street.
The Essays of Warren Buffett
Lessons for Corporate America
Selected, arranged, and introduced by the publisher, Lawrence A. Cunningham. A well thought out compilation of Warren Buffett's letters to shareholders over the past twenty years. With a good overview in Larry Cunningham's Introduction and essential reading for any investor in Chapter II, which outlines the framework within which Buffett makes investment decisions.
The Intelligent Investor
Benjamin Graham, Harper & Row
The timeless classic on value investing. The fourth edition includes Buffett's famous lecture on "The Superinvestors of Graham - and - Doddsville".

Phil Fisher describes a systematic approach to identifying high quality growth companies.
Fooled by Randomness
Nicholas Nassim Taleb
A concise and highly insightful book on the role of chance in investing and in life - and on how we perceive and deal with it. Wonderfully irreverent and a great read.
Triumph of the Optimists: 101 Years of Global Investment Returns
Elroy Dimson, Paul Marsh, Mike Staunton
The industry mainstay on long-term investment returns in stocks and bonds. This book provides the first comprehensive record of long-term investment returns in all the developed countries. It also contains an excellent description of the equity risk premium. Required reading for all serious investors.
