Steven Balsam
Steve Balsam, CFA, serves as a research and investment manager and as a member of the Investment Committee. A graduate of Harvard University and Yeshiva University, Steve believes that a sharp focus on the details of financial statements is a key factor in identifying excellent companies trading below their true value.  Prior to joining Manitou, he worked as an investment analyst at Accountability Research, a Toronto-based equity research firm. R.B. (Biff) Matthews
Biff Matthews acts as portfolio manager for many of Manitou's clients and as a member of the Investment Committee.  A graduate of the University of Toronto and Oxford University, Biff was a partner at McCarthy Tétrault before he and Steve Scotchmer founded Manitou in 1998.  He serves on the board of Economic Investment Trust Limited, a closed end investment company which trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange.  Biff is the immediate past Chairman of World Wildlife Fund Canada and a past (and the founding) Chairman of Outward Bound Ontario. Deborah A. O’Reilly
Debbie O’Reilly, a Chartered Accountant, acts as a client relationship manager, Manitou’s chief financial officer and as a member of the Investment Committee.  A graduate of the University of Toronto, she works with our clients to develop financial plans, and ensures that our reports to clients are timely, accurate and easy to understand. Talia Rovinski
Talia Rovinski works with new and existing clients of Manitou to develop appropriate long-term wealth strategies.  Talia is also a member of the Investment Committee.  Prior to joining Manitou, Talia spent seven years at TD Private Investment Counsel as a consultant to private clients, acquiring a reputation for understanding and meeting the needs of sophisticated investors. She has a bachelors degree in psychology from McGill University and an MBA from York University. Talia has also obtained the Canadian Securities Course designation. Stephen R. Scotchmer
Steve Scotchmer, a co-founder of Manitou and a member of the Investment Committee, brings to investment management a deep understanding of business. From 1982 until 1987, Steve served as President of Bay Mills Ltd., a highly profitable public company in the business of manufacturing engineered materials.  From 1987 to the present he has spent most of his time successfully implementing a buy and hold investment strategy concentrated on a select number of outstanding companies. Sean Yuile
Sean Yuile, CFA , serves as a research and investment manager, and as a member of the Investment Committee.  Before joining Manitou, Sean spent nine years at TD Private Investment Counsel as a senior portfolio manager.  During that time his responsibilities included individual stock selection and asset allocation.  Prior to joining TD, Sean earned a bachelors degree in finance and economics at the University of Western Ontario.
